"I had a dream," Jimi Hendrix's companion Rosa Lee Brooks once recalled of his death. "I dreamed that there was a witch with white hair, standing at a stove, blending in a pot - a cauldron, you call it - and she said, 'This is for Jimi.'"
On September fifteenth, Jimi was headed to a lodging in London. On the seventeenth, he failed to arrive for a planned performance with Sly Stone. The following morning Eric Burdon (of the Animals) got a frantic call from Monika. She was unable to rouse him. In spite of the fact that an ambulance was eventually called and doctors figured he would recuperate, Hendrix was articulated dead at 12:45 p.m. The cause of death? An overdose of barbiturates, endorsed to his blonde sweetheart, Monika Dannemann.
